Combined Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) process
Students taking a Pre-sessional English course before a postgraduate programme at the University of Liverpool may be eligible for a Combined Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
What is a Combined CAS?
A Combined Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) allows you to apply for one visa covering both your Pre-sessional English course and your postgraduate degree.
This means you can remain in the UK for the entire period of study.
Combined CAS is available for students taking:
- the 10-week course
- the 6-week course
before starting a postgraduate taught programme.
Eligibility criteria
You may be eligible if:
- you hold an unconditional offer for a postgraduate programme
- the only remaining condition is English language
- your degree starts within one month of the end of the Pre-sessional course
- your English requirement is B2 level (IELTS 6.5) or below
- you accept both offers before the relevant deadline.
Application deadlines
You must accept your Pre-sessional and academic offers by the deadlines listed for the course.
| Course | Latest date to apply | Latest date to accept offer |
|---|---|---|
| 10-week with Combined CAS | 26th April 2026 | 3rd May 2026 |
| 6-week with Combined CAS | 24th May 2026 | 31st May 2026 |
If you miss these deadlines, we will issue two separate CAS numbers.
ATAS requirements
If your degree requires an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate, you must receive ATAS clearance before a Combined CAS can be issued.
