Who can join the English classes
These English language classes are designed for refugees and people seeking asylum who want to improve their English and gain confidence communicating in everyday situations.
Requirements
You can join the classes if you:
- are 18 years old or over
- are a refugee or asylum seeker
- live in the Liverpool City Region
- can travel to the University of Liverpool campus
- can attend two classes each week
- have intermediate English (about B1 level)
What does B1 English level mean?
B1 is an intermediate level of English.
This usually means you can:
- have simple conversations in English
- understand common topics in daily life
- explain your ideas using basic English
If you are unsure about your English level, the English Language Centre can help assess whether the class is suitable for you.
If your English level is lower
These classes are not suitable for beginners.
If your English is below B1 level, there are other English classes in Liverpool that may be more suitable. The English Language Centre may be able to help you find these courses.
