Ruminant Research Group

Ruminants such as sheep and cattle are important livestock species globally due to their resilience and ability to produce high quality animal protein (meat and dairy) from land and feedstuffs which would otherwise be inaccessible.

We are a group of research active veterinary clinicians based in the Department of Livestock and One Health and are researching a number of key areas of ruminant health and production both in the UK and internationally.

Principally, these are focussed on finding ways to improve animal health and welfare, sustainability from the perspectives of food security and the environment, and our understanding of the perceptions, motivations and behaviours towards these important areas both within the agricultural sector and wider public.
