Aziz Foundation Scholarship

Founded in 2015 by the Aziz family, the Aziz Foundation aims to support British Muslims in bringing positive change to their communities and beyond.

The Aziz Foundation is dedicated to combatting Islamophobia and supporting British Muslims through their scholarship programme. The programme nurtures confident and articulate public leaders, supporting them in critically engaging with the societal challenges facing Britain's Muslims, as well as wider society.

The Foundation has invested over £7 million in more than 500 scholarships for British Muslims pursuing postgraduate education. In 2022 the foundation awarded 80 scholarships through 18 partner universities, 40% of the 2022 cohort were in the household income bracket of less than £20,000.

Led by Asif Aziz, who for the past five years has been listed amongst ‘The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World', the foundations work is globally acknowledged and recognised for its valuable contribution to society. Guided by the principles of social justice, compassion and cooperation, the foundation has recognised and supported the invaluable contribution of Muslims to the fabric of this country, empowering Muslims to fulfil their true potential.

Scholarships are awarded across journalism, technology, sustainability and the environment, law, policy and creative content courses, with previous recipients of the award using their degrees to advocate for the Muslim community and combat islamophobia. The foundation offers a dynamic mix of scholarships and grants in strategic areas, including their postgraduate scholarship programme.

Scholarships are an important source of support and help to support talented, inspiring and ambitious students disadvantaged by social mobility. The Aziz Foundations shares Liverpool’s value of widening participation, supporting students facing financial barriers to pursuing further study.

"We are fully committed to increasing the opportunities available to British Muslims looking to access higher education at the postgraduate taught level. We are thrilled to welcome the University of Liverpool as one of our Preferred Partners and note the institution’s determination to close the degree awarding gap and create an inclusive learning environment for British Muslim students."
