Combating inappropriate use of stem cell therapies

Professor Patricia Murray is based in the Department of Women's and Children's health at Liverpool. Her work focuses on stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. There is a growing number of stem cell clinics in the UK offering unproven therapies.

Patricia advocated for the NHS in parliament as part of the 99% group, a team of volunteers who have written a report setting out economic rationale for why the NHS should be better funded to prevent patients seeking private clinics. Patients need a high level of care and the 99% report outlined why firmer regulation should be introduced to protect patients.

This video explains how Patricia used her research data to influence decision makers who ultimately can introduces stricter regulation.
