How does PAL work?

The weekly PAL sessions are timetabled for first year students and also second year international students. The sessions are held in comfortable open areas at “round tables” which allows PAL leaders to facilitate discussions in small groups of students. The scheme enhances collaborative and cooperative learning. One of the most important benefits of these sessions is increasing lower year students’ confidence and reassurance of study concerns.

The PAL scheme in the Department of Physics covers most first year subjects. All sessions will be run by the PAL session leaders. The weeks will alternate between a session planned by the PAL subject leaders and open sessions for students to bring any questions they may have. The quality of the sessions will be further ensured by the PAL and the academic coordinators.
