Reuse of IT for social good

This project is funded by Research Council England and conducted by a team of researchers at the University of Liverpool’s Digital Media and Society Institute, together with Good Things Foundation. The aim of the project is to identify the barriers that prevent organisations and businesses effectively and affordably recycling IT equipment for reuse for social good.

Recent research shows that more could be done around recycling and reuse of technology for social good in the UK.  Previous evidence demonstrates that recycling and reuse of technology is a viable approach to addressing both digital exclusion and tackling e-waste and environmental issues.

We hope to build on this by gathering data exploring the perspectives of people who have experience of digital technology recycling initiatives.

Join the Good Things Foundation online on Wednesday 12th December at 12pm on Zoom for an hour of research findings and panel debate with public sector leaders, in the wake of the recent publication of reseach, with the University of Liverpool, talking to leaders and champions in health, education, government, at all levels, about their perspectives on donating devices to help fix the digital divide.
