New exhibition on Children's Literature features English students' work

Staff and students from the Department of English have contributed to a new exhibition held at the University’s Special Collections and Archives.

Curated by Special Collections and Archives in consultation with Dr Esme Miskimmin and Professor Jill Rudd, Peninsula of Pictures is based on the Oldham Collection of children’s books, and features illustrations by Kate Greenaway, Randolph Caldecott and Walter Crane.

As well as illustrations by artists from the Wirral and Liverpool, the exhibition showcases some work submitted in assessment by past students of the third-year 'Children’s Literature' module (ENGL373).

This year’s student cohort will also make connected contributions, including a mini-exhibition concerning some aspect of children's literature and illustration, which may be based on a theme or how a single text has been illustrated by different artists.

Peninsula of Pictures is located at the Sydney Jones Library, and will run until May 2022.
