Science and Engineering Outreach

The Faculty of Science and Engineering is committed to giving young people the opportunity to experience STEM subjects in a University environment. Researchers, academic staff and students deliver a wide range of hands-on and interactive STEM activities. As well as offering their own outreach programmes, all Departments in the Faculty come together to offer STEM days for Y6, Y9 and Y12, where young people can attend practical workshops in up to three different subject areas.

We aim to dispel commonly held misconceptions and hence promote Engineering as an aspirational profession on a par with medicine, which is suitable for talented, creative people irrespective of gender.

    Science Outreach for the Community

In November, students from across the University deliver science related sessions for large numbers of Beavers, Cubs and Brownies from Merseyside and Cheshire. These sessions allow the young visitors to gain their science-related activity badges.
