Outreach and schools liaison

The School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science runs a variety of outreach activities designed to educate and inspire school children about the subjects we teach and research within the School.

Our provision has activities that span years 5 – 12 and we work with diverse groups of pupils from local and regional schools.

What do we offer?

We offer continual professional development courses for teachers who want to get up to speed with the national curriculum in computing. We focus on teaching the principles of programming with Python, showing you how to integrate robots into your learning activities. More information can be found on the 'robotics programming workshop' page.

The Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science outreach teams are lead by Dr Kirsty McKay and Dr Shagufta Scanlon respectively.

If you would like to discuss how we could engage with your school pupils and the cost of our activities, please send an email to Kirsty or Shagufta who can be contacted at K.McKay@liverpool.ac.uk and Shagufta.Scanlon@liverpool.ac.uk.

Before I went I was a bit apprehensive as to whether I wanted to go, but in the end, I was happy I did go as I enjoyed the whole day. The staff were fun and so were the activities.
