Placements

The School's own placement scheme for all students is generally open to undergraduate students who are in year 2 or year 3 of their studies. We also work with postgraduate students who are looking for employability support, alongside the Liverpool Doctoral College placement scheme.

Our extra-curricular placements tend to take place over the summer break, but can be arranged throughout the year depending on the requirements of the organisation that is offering the placement.

Placement providers range from local, national and international employers including firms of solicitors, legal departments and non-law organisations like charities, voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) and other third sector employers. Last year students spent time in Malaysia and Singapore as well as Liverpool, Manchester and further afield nationally.

Aside from my enjoyment of the placement and the obvious employability skills I developed through the placement, it also showed me the world of shipping law, an area of law I never had any experience with. Having spent a month with the legal team at the BW Group (Singapore) and having conducted some of my own research, I believe I will attempt to pursue a career in shipping law and for that, I am grateful.
