Welcome to Go Higher
We can’t wait for you to join us from September 2025. Here you can find all of the information and tips you need to get ready for your studies at the University of Liverpool. We hope you’re as excited to start as we are to welcome you.
On this page you will find important information to help support you to get ready for the Go Higher programme. You can also learn about all the activities taking place during your Welcome and the support we offer during your studies.
To help you settle into your studies as smoothly as possible, please complete your top three tasks before your induction and welcome:
- Make sure that you have set up your computing account (your MWS account), giving you access to your student email account and all our IT systems.
- Confirm that you are joining us by completing your academic registration.
- Upload your photo for your student ID.
We’re running a registration drop-in to provide support for these top three tasks, should you need it. This will be on Tuesday 9th September between 2pm and 4pm in the IT Suite, 128 Mount Pleasant. Please do come along if you need any support as staff will be on hand to help.
Once you’ve completed these top three tasks there’s other information and support you can familiarise yourself with:
- Get to know our IT Services by looking at the Quickstart guide which gives you info on all the apps to have, how to store your stuff, using Office 365 and Enrol for Duo two-factor authentication.
- Take a look at The Liverpool Welcome module. Aimed to incoming undergraduate students, there will be some sections which may be of interest to you as a Go Higher student (and will help you get familiar with Canvas). To access this module, you will need to activate your University computing account and register for Duo two-factor authentication.
Getting to know your student record and accounts
As a University of Liverpool student, you have:
A Student ID number (9 digits, starting ‘20’)
