Random Acts of Kindness Day (17 February) is a time when people come together to spread kindness and joy. This year, we’re proud to celebrate our alumni and supporter community - and the extraordinary impact of your generosity.
From bursaries and scholarships that help students come and stay at university, to grants that bring research and learning into our local communities, the impact of this kindness is felt in many ways.
For many students, coming to university can feel challenging and sometimes impossible.
Support from donors through the Student Fund helps students from a wide range of backgrounds afford essentials many might take for granted, from rent and food to travel and study resources.
For students like Maisie, a Medicine student, this support has been life-changing:
Your generosity means that we can study and pass exams because we actually have time to study instead of work. It means that we have full bellies when we go to university in the morning, and it means we have money for our bus fare to get here. Your support is everything.
The impact of this support is not only financial. It’s the confidence to apply for opportunities. The freedom to take part in activities. The belief that a future which once felt out of reach might now be possible .
Lasting impact
Random Acts of Kindness Day at Liverpool is a reminder that kindness is already all around us - quietly changing lives through bursaries, scholarships, grants and support programmes made possible by our alumni and friends.
Sometimes kindness looks like the collective generosity that funds scholarships and bursaries. To everyone who supports the University and our students: thank you. Your kindness - in whatever form it takes - is felt every day, often in ways you may never see, but always in ways that matter.
How you can get involved
We are so proud of our alumni and supporter community. Here are some ways you can get involved this Random Acts of Kindness Day.
- Donate: Being a student comes with different challenges for everyone. Some of our most vulnerable students need extra support to access the same university experience as their peers and those who came before them. No gift is too small to make a difference. You can also choose to give regularly to provide ongoing support for students throughout the year - visit our donation page to find out more.
- Volunteer: Your time and expertise are invaluable to current students who are navigating their academic life. Take a look at our volunteering page or complete the registration form to get started.
- Share kind words: Hearing stories and encouraging words from those who have navigated the same challenges can be inspiring for our students. Take a moment to share some kind words or share your advice by emailing us at: giving@liverpool.ac.uk or commenting on our social media channels: Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. We will share your words directly with our students.
Every act of kindness has a story, and we want to hear yours - your story can inspire others to do the same. Email us at giving@liverpool.ac.uk or find out more about the Student Fund on our website.
