Performance Programme

The Performance sport programme at the University of Liverpool provides a comprehensive service for talented athletes who choose to study at the university. We have two programs that talented future and current students can apply to join, which are:

High Performance Program

Our high-performance program offer has been designed to support dual career athletes and high-performance teams who are representing the university at the highest levels of BUCS competition.

High Performance Athletes - Will usually already be in a national governing body pathway, representing their country already on a national/international level in a junior or senior capacity and are planning to transition to a full time athletic career post-graduation.

High Performance Teams - will be already competing at the BUCs Premier or National level as a minimum and show ongoing drive and commitment for continued success

BUCS Development Program

This program is designed to support our talented students who have a strong track record in their chosen sport and want to represent the university in BUCS competition.

BUCS Performance Athletes – who are first year students will need to be able to demonstrate on application past success at county level or higher and a high dedication to wanting to achieve sporting success alongside their studies

Applications from current students will need to evidence their commitment during the past academic year to the programme and if applicable the success they have achieved within BUCS competition.

BUCS Development Teams – this program is open to application from any BUCS sport team competing at any level and the aim of the program is to provide additional support and resources to teams that show potential to achieve greater success in BUCS competition. Team that’s apply will usually need to demonstrate their current dedication to increasing their success and will have an exemplary record of student conduct

Applying for our schemes

High Performance Athletes and BUCS Performance Athletes

We encourage enquiries and applications from prospective students from the age of 16 who are considering their options for higher education as we will be able to give you either an offer or early indication of whether we are likely to accept you prior to making your choice about which universities to apply to.

We welcome applications at any point of the year and we also accept applications from students who are planning to come to the university for a semester or academic year as part of a study abroad programme.

Please note that the University of Liverpool does not offer a reduction in grades or tuition fees and any offer made to join the performance sport programme is contingent on an applicant meeting all requirements set out in their offer letter from the University before being eligible for the programme’s services and benefits.

To apply fill out the form below and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss your application and answer any questions you may have.
