Cycling & Triathlon

Welcome to the University of Liverpool Cycling & Triathlon club.

With a long running cycling club, 2021 saw the establishment of the Triathlon club, and in 2022 we officially become one! The club welcomes athletes of all abilities and backgrounds, whether you’re a novice or experienced in road, mountain biking, track, triathlon or anything inbetween, we’re the club for you.

Competitive

With a large BUCS calendar including a hill climb, track, downhill, 3-up and solo time trials, road race championships for the cyclists, and duathlon, biathlon, sprint and standard triathlons for the triathletes, we have a busy year ahead. We encourage as many members to give these events a go as possible, with full support from the committee and other members

We also regularly attend British Cycling and British Triathlon events local to Liverpool, with many members giving different races a go for their first time with us: we are all about participation.

Training

We offer a wide variety of training sessions throughout the week to help our members perform to their best ability. We wouldn’t be a cycling club without many a café ride, but we don’t stop there. Our spin classes are a social training session which take place in the sports and fitness centre. Multiple Run and Swim sessions are also held each week alongside our attendance to parkrun on Saturdays, these sessions are a great way to build fitness for triathlon competitions. We are very lucky to have many links with local clubs which enables us to support our athletes development further.

Social events

As part of the Athletics Union we attend monthly AU nights. Alongside this we regularly hold our own socials which are a great opportunity to make friends and bring the club closer together.

We currently have trips planned to Lanzarote and Wales for the coming year, with many other day trips to the likes of the Lake and Peak Districts in the works.

The Athletic Union

The Athletic Union (AU) is a student led union founded in 1884. The AU consists of competitive sports clubs representing the University in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). The AU also provides opportunities for social sports with over 132 teams across three sports.

Being an AU member is a great way to stay active, develop management and leadership skills and meet people.

Other benefits include:

  • Representation within the Sport Liverpool department through the elected student AU executive committee
  • Elite personal accident insurance cover
  • Access to physiotherapy treatment at our Sports injuries clinic
  • Priority access to AU social events
  • Financial support at representative level
  • Subsidised support to coaching and officials courses
  • Eligibility for colours and blues award

The initial cost of the AU membership is £60 and this will allow you to join one club. If you wish to join multiple clubs, the cost for each club is £24 thereafter.
