The National Technical Platform for Materials Innovation (NTPMI) is hosting a workshop on Thursday 15th May for Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) to develop a comprehensive understanding of key concepts in automation in materials science.
Industry leaders in hardware, software and artificial intelligence will deliver sessions on key topics including robotics, machine learning, workflow engineering and data handling. These sessions are designed to upskill RTPs and help develop the knowledge and skills required to progress in their careers.
The workshop is aimed at Research Technical Professionals, or similar who are working in materials formulation anywhere in the UK.
Attendees will be given a guided tour of the state-of-the-art facilities at the Materials Innovation Factory (MIF) including the award winning open-access laboratory.
No specific prerequisites are necessary as all materials will be provided but a working knowledge of Materials Chemistry, Formulation and a basic understanding of automation will be useful.
After the course participants should be able to:
- Determine the most appropriate Automated Formulation equipment and their key specifications
- Implement Formulation workflows and understand the processes required in defining them
- Review the data handling requirements of Formulation, including the importance of metadata
- Appreciate the contribution that Machine Learning and AI are making in Automated Formulation
- Recognise the critical support RTPs give to the process of Automated Formulation development
The event is free to attend and travel and accommodation for RTPs travelling from outside the Liverpool area will be covered by NTPMI.
Capacity is limited so please register your attendance via Eventbrite.
