- To avoid any compatibility problems, please do not use special characters (i.e. “, Ö, Ø, ñ,?, ®, ý,}, {, etc.) to name your files
How to make your presentations impactful
- Make sure your presentation has a clear flow from introduction to conclusion
- Identify key points and why they are important
- Include take-home message. Consider which 2-3 points you want the audience to remember after your presentation
- Only include relevant information on your slides, supplemented and explained by your verbal presentation
- Visual materials (images, schematics, diagrams) are encouraged to support your verbal presentation
- Ensure size and resolution of any images is suitable for presentation on a large screen
- Animations can be used to guide the audience, but should be used sparingly and thoughtfully (see section on accessibility)
- Less is more!
How to make your presentations accessible
- To create accessible slides, use high-contrast, colour-blind friendly palettes and neurodiverse-friendly layouts that reduce cognitive load
- Avoid cluttered slides and walls of text (max. 5-10 lines or 15-20 words)
- Use sans serif fonts (e.g., Calibri, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica Neue) with a minimum size of 14 or 16pt for maximum visibility
- Never use colour as the only way to convey information. Use shapes, textures, or text labels in addition to colour to differentiate data points
- Please be aware that red letters or lines are usually not visible
- Avoid automatic transitions, motion animations, or flashing images
- Use solid, light-coloured (not pure white) or pale pastel backgrounds to reduce glare
- Use clear, consistent headings and bullet points to break up information
- Use the built-in Microsoft Office Accessibility Checker
