Studying part time for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree is a great way to balance further study with other commitments.
As a rule, the University of Liverpool offers only full-time undergraduate study, however there may be instances where individuals are able to agree daytime part-time study with their department on a case-by-case basis, for instance where there are mitigating circumstances, and where timetabling allows. We do not currently offer any evening teaching on undergraduate programmes.
Tuition fees for part-time students will be charged on a pro-rata basis. Depending on your household income, you may be eligible for a grant towards your tuition fees.
Part-time undergraduate students on lower incomes may be eligible for a non-repayable grant to help with course costs such as books and travel. The Access to Learning Fund also offers eligible students additional help with costs such as childcare. See our undergraduate fees and finance section for more information.
Selected postgraduate degrees are available on a part-time basis. See our postgraduate course pages for specific details of the availability of part-time study for each programme.
We also offer a portfolio of online degrees, all of which can be studied part time. These programmes are administered by our partner institution, Laureate Online Education.
Fees for part-time postgraduate study are usually charged on a pro-rata basis.
Only international students who have indefinite leave to remain in the UK can apply for part-time campus-based courses.
A range of part-time postgraduate degrees is available to study online by distance learning. For more information, please refer to our online programmes pages.
