Degrees with a language

Many of our degrees allow you to study a modern language as 25% of your studies, alongside your major subject.

In addition to a number of Single Honours language degrees, there are lots of opportunities in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to study a modern language as part of your degree alongside another subject. Your chosen language (or languages) will comprise either 50% or 25% of your studies and will be listed on your degree certificate.

The following language subjects can be studied as a Single Honours degree or with another subject as 50% of your studies:

  • Chinese
  • French
  • German
  • Hispanic Studies
  • Italian

If you are interested in studying a modern language as 25% of your degree, the following options are available:

  • Basque
  • Catalan
