The Department of Music is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for postgraduate programmes commencing in September 2026, including two new additions: MA Game Design and the online MA The Beatles, Heritage and Culture.

MA Game Design expands on our popular undergraduate provision and seeks to equip aspiring game developers with the practical skills that are in demand by this fast-growing industry, including audio design, spatial design, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX).

The programme has a particular focus on eSports and online games, and seeks to address issues concerning diversity and representation.

MA The Beatles, Heritage and Culture – a part-time, online programme - examines the enduring cultural and economic impact of ‘the Fab Four’ on Liverpool and the surrounding City Region. It considers how the band’s legacy continues to impact areas such as urban planning and regeneration, civic design, heritage, and the tourism and leisure industries, as well as the music and creative industries.

The MA offers an optional Special Project module on which students will spend two weeks in Liverpool, attending daily lectures and site visits linked to the Beatles’ history, culture and heritage, and interacting with lecturers, peers, industry practitioners, government officials, historians and scholars.

Details of all master’s programmes in the Department of Music can be found here.
