Impact of CODD research

Impact of CODD research on the knowledge and practices of UK sheep farmers and veterinarians

Funding by the British Veterinary Association Animal Welfare Foundation (BVAAWF), the Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board (AHDB), Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC), Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) has enabled researchers at the University of Liverpool to undertake a comprehensive research programme to investigate CODD aetiology, epidemiology, clinical presentation, risk factors for development, impact on animal welfare, pathology, transmission and treatment strategies.

A key component of the research programme involved the dissemination of our research findings to veterinarians and sheep farmers via knowledge exchange activities. We have subsequently conducted a survey of sheep farmers and veterinarians to assess the impact of these activites on their knowledge and practice of CODD management and to identify industry needs for further CODD research.

The results of this survey are available here (PDF version): CODD IMPACT SURVEY
