The University of Liverpool is proud to be a Tate Liverpool partner, and as part of that partnership, we'd like to introduce the newest student ambassadors, Emily Mohammed and Eliza Edwardes.
Our award-winning partnership with Tate Liverpool is built around the common goals of broadening participation in art and culture and increasing our impact among diverse audiences. One of the unique aspects of our partnership is our ability to bring a rich variety of research perspectives to Tate’s exhibitions.
These perspectives are enriched by the engagement of our student ambassadors. They bring their academic, social and artistic interests to the role, forging a rewarding link between our students and Tate Liverpool.
The ambassadors gain valuable experience of volunteering at such a prestigious cultural institution, as well as free access to exhibitions and events. They also champion the various benefits students (and staff) enjoy at Tate Liverpool. These include free entry to all paid exhibitions at Tate Liverpool, Tate Britain and Tate Modern; plus 10% discount in the Tate Liverpool Shop.
Meet the ambassadors
Eliza Edwardes
BA Sociology and Social Policy

"My passion for creativity, art, and connectivity inspired me to be a student ambassador at the Tate Liverpool – I am excited to explore this role, whether that be getting involved in projects, helping with events, or just simply learning more about the cultural sector. I am looking forward to advocating for the Tate Liverpool, and the incredible opportunities it offers, where people can explore Liverpool’s vibrant art scene!"
Emily Mohammed
MA Art, Philosophy and Cultural Institutions

"I am currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Art, Philosophy and Cultural Institutions at the University of Liverpool. Thanks to various modules I took during my undergraduate degree in Philosophy, I came to appreciate art through the field of aesthetics. In questioning the purposes and definitions of art, the intentions of the artist, and how a work is received by its audience, I have developed great interest in the “why” of art. However, I have not studied art or art history, so I wish to use this position as Tate Student Ambassador to help develop my knowledge in this area.
"I am also excited for the opportunities this placement presents for gaining experience working in museums and galleries, especially those based in prominent cities like Liverpool. I am keen to work with the Tate in workshops and projects that engage with Liverpool’s community, and to learn about the job roles the Tate offers through shadowing some members of staff."
