This year’s Earth Month is especially important. Following the recent COP26 summit in Glasgow which saw world leaders and representatives gather and agree on a path forward to address the ever worsening climate emergency, now is time to put words into action. This guide will talk you through some of the most talked about films, documentaries, YouTube channels and books that you simply have to check out this Earth Month!

Seaspiracy – Documentary Film (Netflix)

From the same people who created the hugely popular Cowspiracy, Seaspiracy has proven an incredibly popular documentary film amongst Netflix viewers since its release last year. The film examines the detrimental environmental impacts of the fishing industry on our oceans and bodies of water. This documentary advocates the end of fish consumption, highlighting the ways in which our Earth would benefit from a change in this human activity. Groups like PETA and Greenpeace have been highly commending of the film and have both promoted those who care about sustainability, the environment and animals rights to watch it. This is an absolute must-see this Earth Month!

The Game Changers – Documentary Film (Netflix)

If you’re thinking of joining the ever-growing community of those following a vegan, plant-based diet this Earth month but still need a little convincing – this is the show for you! The Game Changers promotes a movement towards a plant-based diet, it advocates the various health benefits associated with a plant-based lifestyle promoted by nutritionists, scientists and experts. It’s a gripping documentary film which will have you converted to the idea of veganism in no time!

Our Planet – BBC Documentary Series (Netflix)

Can you even call yourself a resident of the UK if you don’t love a David Attenborough documentary on a Sunday evening? Our Planet allows viewers to immerse themselves in the wonders of our Earth and Planet whilst closely examining the ways in which the growing implications of climate change is negatively impacting our Earth, animals and landscape. Our Planet is the ultimate comfort watch for you this Earth Day with such an important message behind it.

The Happy Pear – YouTube Channel, Instagram and Recipe Books

If the play on words doesn’t win you over, I’m not sure what will? Vegan Irish Twins, David and Stephen Flynn, opened their vegetarian Café in County Wicklow, Ireland over fifteen years ago and have since created their own vegan empire! If you’re looking to eat more sustainably with plant-based food this Earth Month then you have to check out these guys’ YouTube channel for recipe ideas and health plans as well as their Instagram and variety of recipe books which have proven hugely popular!

There is No Planet B – Book

This excellent book written by environmentalist author Mike Berners-Lee needs to be at the top of your reading list this Earth Month! Coined ‘a handbook for the make or break years’, Berners-Lee uses numerical data and researched data to set out a clear plan for the future of our planet and how to navigate the coming years with the consequences of climate change heading for the forefront of our society. This book is highly engagement and maps out in an entertaining way how there is an alternative to our current route of climate crisis. If you’re on the hunt for a book that is informative but also a highly enjoyable read – you simply have to pick this page-turner up next time you find yourself in a bookshop!
