Class of December 2021 graduation ceremonies

Below you'll find some important information about the December 2021 graduation ceremonies.

Looking back at your studies, it’s undoubtedly been hard work and, unlike other students who have come before you, you’ve had to adapt to the many unexpected challenges created by the pandemic. Despite this though, you’re nearly there and we’ve been incredibly proud of everything you have achieved so far.

For the majority of our University community, life post-pandemic is beginning to return to something of the new normal we keep hearing so much about. However, in various ways, the University is still adapting to the challenges COVID-19 created and continues to create.

One of the ways our University has had to adapt is in rescheduling large events. You may be aware that, due to government COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time, the Class of 2020 and Class of July 2021 graduation ceremonies were postponed. Our graduation team have been working hard behind-the-scenes to reorganise the 70-plus postponed ceremonies and the events will now take place this academic year.

However, as we catch up with the rescheduled ceremonies it means that we are now also announcing revised dates for graduation ceremonies originally due to take place this December. Your graduation ceremony will take place in Spring 2022 and we will contact all those due to graduate in December via email shortly with your new date and details of how to reserve your place.

Knowing how big a milestone graduation is for so many of our students we have prioritised informing you about this difficult decision as soon as possible and have only been in a position to do so since the Class of 2020 and Class of July 2021 rescheduled ceremonies timetable was confirmed. We appreciate your patience as we finalise the details of your ceremony.

Your ceremony

On the day of your graduation, you will still be able to invite two guests to attend your ceremony, wear your cap and gown and enjoy activities on campus to celebrate your graduation. We will send you more information about the event soon via email and will update our Graduation webpages over the coming weeks.

Your award certificate

Students who complete their degree requirements will formally graduate ‘in absentia’ on Monday 6 December 2021. You will be able to access and share digital versions of your award documentation from Friday 10 December 2021, and your award certificate will be sent to you via post after this date.
