Information about the HEAR and sharing process

This page provides information on the HEAR and how to share it your document with third party organisations

All undergraduate and postgraduate taught degree students at the University of Liverpool graduating from July 2016 onwards will receive a Higher Education Achievement report (HEAR) at the end of their studies.

This report is a comprehensive record of all your university achievements, including some of the co- and extra-curricular activities that you took part in during your academic studies at Liverpool.

Your HEAR is a digitally signed document that will replace the traditional academic transcript and Diploma Supplement. It will contain detailed information about your learning and achievements and, along with your degree certificate, will support your applications for employment and further study.

For those students graduating from December 2018 onwards, you will now be able to register and use the Award Documents portal to view and share both your HEAR and award certificate. Registration emails are sent to you prior to your ceremony taking place.

For those students who graduated prior to December 2018 and wish to share their HEAR with a third party organisation, the University can forward this directly on your behalf. Full details of how to request this service can be found at the bottom of this page.

Recording Co- and extra-curricular activities

Whatever stage you are at in your studies, getting involved with lots of activities can really enrich your life here at Liverpool. Participating in your university community or getting involved in voluntary work, internships or placements can add substance to your CV and make you stand out from the crowd. Whatever your plans are, whether full time employment or further study, university is a great time to extend and develop your skills.

To help you get the most from your time at University, we’ve set up Liverpool + - a portal dedicated to guiding you through a wide range of co- and extra-curricular learning and life opportunities.

Where the activities are substantial and can be verified by the University they will be marked with an ‘H’. Once you have completed these activities, they will be confirmed by the University and added to your e-portfolio – a new system which holds a personal record of your co- and extra-curricular activities.

You will be able to use this University verified evidence when applying for jobs or further study by adding it to your HEAR before graduation.

Postgraduate research (PGR) students

Postgraduate research (PGR) students don’t currently receive a HEAR, but if you have taken part in co- or extra-curricular activities during your time at Liverpool you can still refer to these on your CV and personal statements. Please view your PGR Toolbox for a record of your University activities to date.

Articulating the skills that you have learnt and developed as a result of additional activities outside of your academic achievements is a useful exercise. For help identifying the specific skills associated with individual activities, please visit Liverpool +.

For help and advice with applications to employment or further study please contact the University’s Careers and Employability Service.

Please note, PGR students will continue to receive a Diploma Supplement at the point of graduation.
