Article: Liverpool Bayesian model helps calculate COVID-19 R number

COVID-19 emergency response campaign raised £500,000 in six months.

A Bayesian model created by researchers at the University of Liverpool is being used by the UK Government to estimate the UK’s R number – the reproduction number – of COVID -19.

Our CDT director, Simon Maskell, and his team have created a model - used by UK Government - to estimate the UK’s R number; which is the reproduction number of COVID -19.  This article shows the important work that the researchers and PhD students undertake here at the CDT and Signal Processing Group.

Read the article to discover more about Bayesian modelling and how data from various sources is combined to predict these types of outcomes.
