Fire Safety Works Statement
We take our residents’ safety very seriously, and you might be aware there have been recent changes to Fire Safety Regulations in high-rise buildings affecting many student accommodation properties in the UK.
In 2025/26 there will be a schedule of fire safety improvement works conducted throughout our halls of residence, focusing on updating fire doors and other fire safety aspects in communal areas including lift lobbies, corridors and kitchens.
Vine Court, Philharmonic Court and Dover Court will also have some external works carried out: there will be scaffolding surrounding all three properties. Further information will be provided on this to residents who will be impacted with this work.
Our buildings and systems already meet all safety requirements, this is just part of our ongoing efforts to keep our accommodation in top condition. There is no risk to residing in the building; this is a long-term precaution to ensure the building continues to be compliant to updates in regulations.
Vine Court is Going Greener 🌍
The University is ambitious. We are aiming for a climate-resilient campus and to achieve net-zero carbon by 2035. This means we aim to have minimal negative and maximum positive environmental impact.
We monitor energy and carbon across the entire University as part of our Climate plan. Tracking our progress supports our Sustainability Strategy and Net-Zero carbon targets.
Here at Vine Court, we are currently upgrading the heating and hot water systems as part of a project to decarbonise your accommodation.
✅ Heating and hot water will soon come from low-carbon air source heat pumps
✅ Helping us cut carbon emissions, saving around 262tCO2/yr, and fight climate change
✅ Supports our path to Net-Zero by 2035
✅ Creating a more sustainable future for your campus
Thank you for your patience while the works take place. Together, we’re making your home more energy-efficient, comfortable, and environmentally friendly.
