Vine Court is Going Greener 🌍

The University is ambitious. We are aiming for a climate-resilient campus and to achieve net-zero carbon by 2035. This means we aim to have minimal negative and maximum positive environmental impact.

We monitor energy and carbon across the entire University as part of our Climate plan. Tracking our progress supports our Sustainability Strategy and Net-Zero carbon targets.

Here at Vine Court, we are currently upgrading the heating and hot water systems as part of a project to decarbonise your accommodation.

✅ Heating and hot water will soon come from low-carbon air source heat pumps

✅ Helping us cut carbon emissions, saving around 262tCO2/yr, and fight climate change

✅ Supports our path to Net-Zero by 2035
✅ Creating a more sustainable future for your campus

Thank you for your patience while the works take place. Together, we’re making your home more energy-efficient, comfortable, and environmentally friendly.

For Residents of Vine Court:

In 2026/27 there will be an ongoing maintenance programme to around 250 riser doors located at Vine Court and situated in communal areas and some within communal cluster corridors.  Please note, there is no work being carried out as part of this programme to student bedroom doors.  The maintenance work will involve replacement of those doors however, it is anticipated that this will be minor work and is expected to cause some disruption but should be minimal.  The maintenance programme will commence in October 2026 through to December 2026, cease for the whole of January 2027 and then recommence February 2027 and it is expected to be complete by the end of February 2027.

Our buildings and systems already meet all safety requirements, this is just part of our ongoing efforts to keep our accommodation in top condition. The buildings remain suitable for occupation, and appropriate fire safety arrangements will continue to be maintained while these planned improvement works are completed; this is a long-term precaution to ensure the building continues to maintain and improve the building’s fire safety measures and support continued compliance with current standards.

Residential advisers

Student welfare within our accommodation is the responsibility of hall wardens, assisted by senior residential advisers and the wider residential adviser team.

Wardens are all senior members of staff who live in the halls of residence, ensuring students get the support and assistance they need throughout their time in University accommodation. At Vine Court, we have a warden who oversees all aspects of pastoral care.

The team are there to help you with any problems and assist students by being pastoral leaders. You will usually meet your warden at welcome events during the first few days of term: it is important that you attend these events as there will be information specific to your hall of residence.

Our residential adviser team provides an on-call emergency service Monday to Friday, 8pm to 7.30am and Saturday to Sunday, 6pm to 9am.
