Role overview and University context:
The University of Liverpool is home to a number of outdoor spaces, including Liverpool city campus, Wyncote Sports Grounds, Ness Botanic Gardens, Leahurst Veterinary Campus and Greenbank Student Village.
Spanning 100 acres, the University’s city campus is located in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter and is located in an urban environment, and includes teaching spaces, student residences, administrative buildings and research facilities alongside hard and soft landscaped areas.
Located approximately 3.5 miles away is Wyncote Sports Ground, with Greenbank Student Village nearby.
This role supports the University’s strategic priorities (Strategy 2031) and the development of the Grounds Maintenance strategy.

The post holder reports to the Curator and is responsible for a team of 10 staff, with 7 based at the Liverpool city campus and 3 based at Wyncote Sport Ground. The postholder is responsible for the management of the contract relating to the maintenance of the green spaces at Greenbank Student Village as well as aligned contracts such as gritting.
The role undertakes activity in horticultural development and maintenance and provision of a high-quality visitor and stakeholder experience. There are also role elements relating to people management and safety.
The postholder will be primarily based at the Liverpool city campus, with regular time spent at Wyncote Sports Ground and Greenbank Student Village.
