Ness Botanic Gardens is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors. This page outlines the accessibility facilities and supports available across the site to help you plan your visit.

Planning Your Visit 
We recommend contacting us before your visit to discuss any access needs and ensure you have the best possible experience. 
Information on directions and public transport options can be found on our website. Local taxi services are also available in the area. 

Getting Here and Parking 
Accessible parking is available in the main visitor car park, with designated bays located close to the Visitor Centre. These spaces are connected to the entrance by paved pathways with gentle inclines. 
Additional parking is available in overflow areas, though these are located further from the Visitor Centre and are on grass surfaces. Some routes may require crossing a road. 
A coach drop-off point is situated close to the Visitor Centre and includes step-free access via a ramp and a pedestrian crossing. 

Visitor Centre 
The Visitor Centre is fully accessible, with step-free entry through automatic doors. It includes the Admissions Desk, café, gift shop, plant sales area, and event spaces. 
Lowered counter sections are available at the tills. One registered carer or essential companion is admitted free of charge per paying disabled visitor. If additional support is required, please contact us in advance. 

Access to the Gardens 
Step-free access to the Gardens is available via the Visitor Centre. The main route into the Gardens includes a steep downward slope. An alternative entrance with a gentler gradient is available, and staff will be happy to advise. 
A recommended accessible route is provided on the garden map, offering access to key areas using mostly hard-surfaced paths. However, some parts of the Gardens include steep gradients, steps, or uneven surfaces, which may not be suitable for all visitors. 

Mobility Support 
Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow free of charge from the Admissions Desk. Advance booking is recommended, particularly during busy periods. 
We also offer Tramper mobility scooters; these must be reserved before arrival. 
Visitors are welcome to bring their own mobility scooters. Charging facilities are available on request. 

Assistance Dogs 
Registered assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site, including all indoor and outdoor areas. Assistance dogs in training are also permitted. Water is available at the café. 

Accessibility Aids 
Portable induction loops are available for use in event spaces. We recommend requesting these in advance. 
Large print maps are available at the Admissions Desk, and alternative formats of documents can be provided on request. 

Seating and Rest Areas 
Seating is available throughout the Gardens, with benches located at regular intervals. Additional seating, including picnic benches and deckchairs, is also provided in designated areas. 

Buildings and Facilities 
Most public buildings offer step-free access, including the Visitor Centre and several garden buildings. Some spaces may have limitations, such as narrow entrances, internal ramps, or stair-only access to upper floors. 
Accessible toilet facilities are available in the Visitor Centre and within the Gardens. Additional toilets are located across the site, though some require step access. Baby changing facilities are available in the Visitor Centre.
