Professor Sarah Coupland honoured for contributions to pathology

Professor Sarah Coupland, George Holt Chair of Pathology at the University of Liverpool, has been awarded the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) Honorary Fellow Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to pathology and education.

The award honours her exceptional service to the field, including her international collaborations that have strengthened pathology research and education across Australasia and beyond.

Professor Coupland, who trained in Australia, is an internationally recognised leader in diagnostic and academic pathology. Her research focuses on the molecular genetics of cancers, with particular expertise in uveal melanoma, conjunctival melanoma, intraocular and ocular adnexal lymphomas, and CNS lymphoma. Her work has had a transformative impact on ophthalmic, haematological and molecular pathology worldwide.

Alongside her role at the University of Liverpool, Professor Coupland serves as President of the Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland and Registrar of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK).

Professor Coupland said: "I’d like to thank the Australasian Royal College of Pathologists very much: this recognition means more to me than I can express - it is a profound privilege to be recognised in this way by my home country".
