Terms and conditions
Conditions of access to the Liverpool EM Unit.
- Service and/or support provided by the EM Unit must be appropriately acknowledged in all subsequent publications
- Fees must be paid before commencing work
- Fees represent Principal Investigator access rights to the Unit and equipment for the specified period. In practice, this will mean access for one member of the research group
- Annual fees allow up to 2 x 2 hour TEM sessions per week unless otherwise arranged. Access to the SEM requires a separate agreement
- Work requiring significant technical assistance will be discussed at the outset and may need to be performed on a cost recovery or collaborative basis
- Training is required before equipment can be used
- Clients must ensure that they have completed all appropriate safety inductions and before commencing work will have performed a full risk assessment of the project and techniques
- Scheduling of work by the EM Unit will be carried out on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to spare capacity being available
- The EM Unit is available for use at any time, however, instrument bookings are limited to 2 hour blocks during normal working hours (Mon-Fri; 9am-5pm). Work requiring extended time periods (e.g. tomography) should be performed outside these hours or during times agreed with EM staff. Maintenance of equipment has priority over all bookings
- Data storage: temporary space is available on the EM Unit server however, all files older than 4 weeks risk being deleted. Files are stored on the EM Unit computers at clients own risk and we accept no responsibility for any damage or loss of files
- People attending the EM Unit for training will be responsible for arrangements for their own accommodation and transportation.
