Peter Doyle

Widening Participation and Outreach Manager

I have been working in the Widening Participation and Outreach Team since 2004, and am currently the Pre-16 Widening Participation Manager. This role involves leading and co-ordinating the Pre-16 team to deliver outreach activities for students from Primary age up to Year 11, usually working with around 10,000 students per year. These programmes can involve in-school delivery, campus visits, residential events and one-to-one mentoring.

A major part of my work involves the collection and co-ordination of data from across the University to feed into our Access and Participation Plan return, and making sure that our offering to our Partner schools is always as efficient and productive as possible.

I have also been increasingly involved in our teams work with external providers such as IntoUniversity and the Sutton Trust to spread our outreach work across a wider geographical area.

Within the University I have represented the team on Faculty level committees such as the Recruitment, Admissions and Widening Participation Committee and Widening Participation Working Group, and outside of the University I am the University representative at the Russell Group Heads of Widening Participation meetings, and am part of the national steering group for the Higher Education Access Tracker (HEAT).
