Ben Toleman

Project Officer – Looked after children and care leavers

My role within the team is to support Care Leavers into the University. We offer a bespoke programme for any individuals who have experienced Local Authority Care, and through this programme can offer a range of support to encourage and help their transition to Higher Education. In it's full form, this takes the form of a seven year programme that aims to work with Looked After Children throughout their educational journey, starting at Year 7 and conclusing in Year 12, supporting Looked After Children and Care Leavers to successfully progress into Higher Education. However, young people may join the programme at any point they begin to interact with us, and be given bespoke support from then on.

I also coordinate a programme which supports young people with aspirations to progress into the Law sector. 'Pathways to Law' works with young people over a 4 year period, beginning in Year 10, to help them develop the skills needed to progress on to successfully study Law at university.
