Personal Statement

My work predominantly is focused in the area of dental public health, specifically with an interest in reducing inequalities in oral health in populations from low socioeconomic backgrounds. I am currently working on an NIHR funded project entitled 'reducing inequalities in the uptake of regular dental care', which aims to improve the uptake of regular dental care in those who only use emergency dental services. There is a large patient and public involvement focus with this programme of work, and this will be undertaken with members of local communities in Merseyside to help us to deliver this project.

I am also undertaking a part-time PhD in a further area I am interested in: clinical trial implementation. Specifically, my PhD is looking at fidelity of clinical trials in the the primary care dental setting. I will be investigating the mechanisms of fidelity in primary care trials in order to provide some insight into how this can be improved and implemented in this setting. I am due to complete my part-time PhD in 2024.
