About
As an Honorary Research Member at the University of Liverpool, my research interests centre on health inequalities, engaging underserved communities in research, and patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE). My previous work has predominantly focused on dental public health, particularly inequalities in access to and use of dental services among people from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.
This included the NIHR-funded RETURN Project, which aimed to reduce inequalities in the uptake of regular dental care among adults who primarily used emergency dental services. Community engagement and PPIE were central to the project, with members of local communities across Merseyside contributing to the development and delivery of the research.
My PhD examined intervention fidelity in psychological and behaviour-change interventions delivered in primary care dental settings, exploring how fidelity methods can strengthen intervention delivery, evaluation and the interpretation of trial findings. My wider experience includes mixed-methods research, intervention development and evaluation, co-production, and working with communities to ensure research reflects the experiences and priorities of the people it is intended to benefit.
