Applied Forensic and Conflict

The Department of Psychology hosts a number of researchers working to address questions under the the theme of Applied Forensic and Conflict Science.

The Applied Forensic and Conflict Psychology Research Theme brings together three specialist groups- Critical Incident Decision-Making, Forensic, and Conflict - to explore how people and organisations operate in high-pressure, high-risk, and ethically complex situations.

Our work focuses on critical incidents, offender management, cybercrime, mass casualty response, hybrid warfare, and the impact of emerging technologies. We collaborate with law enforcement, emergency services, defence, and public health agencies to develop evidence-based solutions that enhance decision-making, protect vulnerable populations, and improve multi-agency teamwork. Through cutting-edge, applied research, we aim to improve public safety, organisational effectiveness, and societal resilience

The Applied Forensic and Conflict research theme is led by Dr Nicola Power.
