Research
I have a specific interest in the use of simulation for the development of clinical skills and for optimising student clinical placement outcomes. I completed a secondment with the Society of Radiographers to develop national guidelines for the use of simulation in the education of pre-registration therapeutic radiographers, and I am currently collaborating with a diagnostic colleague at another HEI to write the European Federation of Radiographer Societies Guidance for Simulation in Education.
I am currently working towards my PhD via the prior publication route. The focus of this will be my simulation work, looking more specifically at the impact of simulation on development of inter-personal skills.
I am a member of the international Advanced Practice in Radiation Therapy project group, which aims to analyse the variations in roles of therapeutic radiography advanced practitioners across the world. The team plans to carry out an international Delphi project to map advanced roles. I am also a member of the Society of Radiographers Radiation Induced Skin Reactions (RISR) Special Interest Group.
I hold an honorary contract with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and have recently worked with them to carry out a qualitative research project looking at patient experience of MRI within radiotherapy.
