Italofonia: language beyond borders

Week of Italian Language in the World/ Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo, 13-17 October 2025

The Week of Italian Language in the World is an annual event (this year at the 25th edition) under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs involving a global network of Italian Cultural Institutions, language departments, schools and associations. The Department of Languages, Cultures and Film traditionally hosts the Italian Week with a series of cultural events, performances, concerts and screenings.  

The 2025 programme is a collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society – Liverpool Branch, the Manchester Comites, a Visiting PhD student from the Università per Stranieri di Siena, a Sicilian duo (soprano and guitar), and London ONE Radio. The theme of this edition is "Italofonia: language beyond borders", with the aim of celebrating the linguistic, cultural, and social space of Italian.
