Luke Detraux

This project will focus on beyond the Standard Model Physics, looking at String Theory and its role in Unification.

Luke studied his integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s course in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, where he was a member of Churchill College. After completing his Master’s project entitled ‘Active Motility – Towards a Microbial Engine’, Luke graduated in July 2022.

His PhD will be in Mathematical Sciences, and Luke’s research project, ‘Efficient Classification of Heterotic-String Vacua’, will focus on Beyond the Standard Model Physics, String Theory, and Unification. This is quite the change of pace from his first job as a fishmonger!
