Sreejani discusses her journey towards the publication of her chapter in Sanyal, S., & Baker, A. (2026). Power, resistance and the politics of addressing violence against women in India in the digital era. In H. Randell-Moon (Ed.), Environments of Power, Landscapes of Resistance. Manchester University Press.
For me, the journey toward publication was filled with excitement, anxiety and countless learning experiences. It was about validation, perseverance and the fulfilment of a long-standing goal.
The process began with an idea that I believed was worth sharing. I spent weeks refining my writing, ensuring that my message was clear and engaging. Editing was a crucial stage. Each draft brought me closer to the final version that truly reflected my voice and purpose.
Submitting my work was nerve-racking. There was always the fear of rejection. I received a few polite refusals at first, which taught me resilience and the importance of persistence. Finally, one day, I received an acceptance email. It felt like all the effort, patience and late nights had finally paid off.
Getting published taught me that success in writing comes through hard work, self-belief and the courage to share one’s voice with the world.
