PGR Support Fund Success - Nathan Bramald & CRSF Organisers 2025

Posted on: 24 April 2025 in Posts

Nathan Bramald, one of the organisers of the Current Research in Speculative Fiction (CRSF) Conference and current PGR in the Department of English, talks to us about his experience presenting at the BSLS conference along with his colleagues and co-CRSF organisers: Richard Snowden-Leak, Faye Lynch, and Eleanor McAdam.

The conference provided me with an excellent opportunity to disseminate my research amongst other researchers in my field. I was able to collect valuable questions and feedback from academics who work on similar projects to mine, as well as those whose research interests drift further astray, meaning I will now be able to support my research more with recognised methodologies from my field as well as ensure my work has an impact on those who may not be as familiar with the scope. I had the opportunity to network with many other academics at the socials and during breaks, consolidating some of my friendships established from previous conferences as well as making new connections. As an organiser of the internal CRSF conference at Liverpool, I was also able to bring back some ideas that will be beneficial for running our own conference based on observations of how BSLS was run over the three days. I was also able to support some of my PG peers who were attending BSLS or just any academic conference for the first time, which enhanced the experience for everyone.
