The Centre for Converged Screen Media and Entertainment (COSME) had the great pleasure of hosting Nina Berry, Director of Media Production and Operations, and Mark Volante, Director of Creative Content at Liverpool Football Club.
In conversation with COSME’s co-director, Professor Yannis Tzioumakis, the two LFC media directors discussed in great detail the ways in which a media department works at an elite football club.
With communication and media studies being increasingly interested in how screen industries and sport interact and intersect, the audience had the opportunity to get a rare insight into some of the ways this intersection takes place in a football club of Liverpool FC’s calibre.
Following the conversation and a Q&A with the audience COSME’s two guests stayed back and spent some time talking to students and staff informally, responding to further questions and giving advice about careers in sports media.
With the event proving a great success, COSME hopes that will be able to host them again in the future as well as organising other events involving Liverpool FC and other sports organisations in the city of Liverpool.
