PhD students launch Northern England Postgraduate Philosophy Conference

Published on

PhD researchers, Daniel Baldwin and Neil Williams, have announced a call for abstracts for the first Northern England Postgraduate Philosophy Conference, to be held at University of Liverpool on 19th June. They hope the event will create an informal community of PGRs based in England’s Northern universities (in the cities of Liverpool, Manchester, Lancaster, Sheffield, Leeds, Keele, Hull, York, Durham and Newcastle).

More information is in the call for papers, below, or contact Neil or Dan:

We are pleased to invite abstract submissions for the Inaugural Northern England Postgraduate Philosophy Conference, to be held at the University of Liverpool on Thursday 19th June.

We are seeking abstract submissions of a maximum of 300 words from all Philosophy PhD students from the invited universities. Abstracts can be on any topic within philosophy. There is no obligation to present your PhD research, if you have additional research interests, this is an ideal opportunity to present them. We also invite speakers to present work in progress if they so choose. Talks will be twenty minutes in length, with a further ten minutes for audience Q&A.

The deadline for abstracts will be Friday 2nd May, and we aim to get back to you by Friday 9th May.

Our aim is to create an informal community of postgraduate philosophers within Northern England and give them the chance to present their work in front of their peers. We are inviting universities from Liverpool, Manchester, Lancaster, Sheffield, Leeds, Keele, Hull, York, Durham, Newcastle to participate.

The conference will be free to attend for speakers and guests. If you are not submitting an abstract for submission this year, we warmly invite to you attend regardless and meet up with your fellow Philosophy PhD students.

Please send your abstract with the name of your institution, but no other personal details to NEPPC@liverpool.ac.uk. We aim to have a wide representation of institutions participating. Please also attach a separate document with your name, contact email, affiliated institution/stage of research, and a brief biographical note containing your research interests.

If you wish to register as a guest, please simply email NEPPC@liverpool.ac.uk with your name and institution.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us at this email address.

Best wishes,
Neil Williams and Dan Baldwin, University of Liverpool
