UK's Experimental Arthritis Treatment Centre for Children (EATC for Children)

About

Arthritis Research UK has recently awarded its first and only UK Experimental Arthritis Treatment Centre for Children. With significant inward investment and matched funding from the University of Liverpool and Alder Hey Children’s Charity, with additional investment from Alder Hey’s Research Directorate and partner organizations, this unique consortium has resulted in a major step forward in establishing an internationally competitive platform for early translational and experimental medicine in the sphere on childhood arthritis and related rheumatic and musculoskeletal health.

Background

Liverpool, with established partners and collaborators, demonstrates collaborative, exemplar research leadership and an environment ready to lead a national research consortium directed towards stimulating a step-change in experimental medicine and early phase clinical trials in paediatric rheumatology and musculoskeletal disorders.

Disease focus

Children and young people with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, juvenile-onset systemic lupus erythematosus, JIA-associated uveitis, bone and bone health disorders, and other related conditions.
