Biography
Siyang received his Master of Arts degree in Tourism, Environment and Development from King's College London, for which his research involved a mix of migration and livelihoods, poverty alleviation and community governance in protected areas. He worked in strategic urban planning in Mainland China after completing his MA. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, but based offsite at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.
Research
Siyang's research interests focus on urban governance, poverty alleviation, and rural-urban migration. His research examines the citizenship and social integration of rural-urban migrant groups under the context of secondary town governance.
Working thesis title
'The impact of developing metropolitan areas on migrant integration in Chinese second-tier cities'.
