About

Personal Statement

I joined the University of Liverpool as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in October 2022.

I was awarded my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) from the University of Liverpool and my thesis research looked at the relationship between traumatic childbirth experiences, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms and the parent-infant relationship in birth partners in a co-parenting role.

My research interests focus broadly on perinatal mental health and the psychological experience of childbirth. I am currently working on an NIHR Research for Patient Benefit (RfPB) award aimed at improving the identification of fear of childbirth (sometimes referred to as tokophobia) in routine maternity care.

I also work as a Clinical Psychologist in a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service where my clinical work aims to support parents experiencing distress in the perinatal period. I have a particular interest in supporting women, partners, and families who have experienced trauma and/or loss in the perinatal period.
