Politics Alumni, Prentice Hazell

Prentice Hazell

Prentice Hazell graduated in 2018 from our Politics department and is now Diary Manager to Keir Starmer

I studied Politics at the Uni of Liverpool from September 2015 and graduated in July 2018. I loved my time in Liverpool from an educational and ‘student life’ point of view. I couldn’t think of a better place to spend 3 years.

In my final semester of studying, I took part in the Parliamentary placement scheme that ran alongside the Politics course that was organised by Dr Kevin Hickson. From January 2018 I was given the fantastic opportunity of interning for Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth who was the Shadow Health Secretary. This invaluable 6-month placement gave me the chance to work in the Houses of Parliament and live in London.

Working in Parliament exposed me to some great contacts which eventually led to me being offered a job in Jonathan’s office where I remained in employment until May 2020. During my employment I was seconded twice. Firstly, to work on visits and events in Labour HQ for the 2019 General Election and then to campaign on Angela Rayner’s successful campaign to become Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.

In May 2020 I was offered a job as Diary Manager to Keir Starmer. I remain in this role managing his day-to-day and helping to facilitate visits, meetings and wider engagement. I would never have been in this position if it weren’t for studying Politics at Liverpool and remain grateful for the opportunities that presented themselves.
