I am a Demonstrator (teaching assistant) and PhD researcher at the Department of Psychology (DoP). I teach Research Methods and Statistics to first and second year UG students, and also deliver lectures to third year students - Great Debates in Psychology and Cyberpsychology modules. In addition, I am an Academic Adviser and tutor, and an AFHEA - Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (https://www.advance-he.ac.uk/).
My PhD focuses on the neural basis of symmetry perception and its links to cognition, in particular attention and memory (using EEG and eye-tracking methods). I am part of the Visual Perception Lab and my PhD is supervised by Dr Alexis Makin and Dr Marco Bertamini.
In addition, I am conducting research on Critical Thinking (CT), and have also delivered lectures on CT for MSc students, Methods North West sessions, and a Podcast for PsychLiverpool discussing the importance of this 21st century skill.
And as Belongingness co-lead (part of Student Experience at the DoP) I am responsible for designing, organising, promoting and facilitating weekly events for students and staff.
I previously completed a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Psychological Research Methods at the University of London, with my dissertation exploring the ventral and dorsal pathways of object and face recognition. I have gained broad experience working in different areas of psychology: being an honorary assistant psychologist for the NHS at SlaM IAPT Lambeth Talking Therapies in London; a clinical research facilitator for a Dementia study at Imperial College London, The CHARIOT register; and research assistant to Professor Melissa Gladstone (Senior lecturer in neurodevelopmental Paediatrics at UoL – Institute of Translational Medicine), being responsible for the cognitive assessment of children with cerebral malaria in Mozambique, and also worked on the CORE outcome set for studies on congenital Zika - COMET initiative . I speak Spanish and Portuguese.
