Waves and Continuum Mechanics

The Waves and Continuum Mechanics group carries out research in a diverse range of areas in Applied Mathematics including asymptotic analysis of partial differential equations, wave propagation and scattering in inhomogeneous media, cloaking, ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation, metamaterials, homogenisation, dynamic fracture, phononics, and platonics.

Waves and Solid Mechanics – About

Our research is highly interdisciplinary and often finds application in a wide variety of fields from healthcare, to the oil industry, civil engineering, and geophysics. We have strong collaborative links with both industry, other institutions, and NHS Trusts.
