Personal Statement

General Editor of the Longman Annotated English Poets edition of the poetry of Alexander Pope. Other current projects include work on literary representations of ethical dilemmas in finance and commerce; contemporary pictorial narrative and the intersection between literature, architecture, and nostalgia. He has reviewed new and international writing for the TLS and Sunday Telegraph and has supervised doctoral projects on crime fiction and the construction of city-space in the work of contemporary British and American writers, cartoonists, and film-makers, including Iain Sinclair, Will Self, Andrew Kötting, Lee Rourke, Geoff Nicholson, Tom McCarthy, John Lanchester, Michael Sorkin, Colson Whitehead, and Ben Katchor.
